I love plugging in on the go and my world turns into a music video! My musical taste is very broad but I love a good beat to keep my day feeling positive and upbeat. Here are my top tunes of the month that’s on my playlist:
Major Lazer & DJ Snake – Lean On (feat. MØ)
Who are they? As you can see there’s quite a few people involved in this track ‘Lean on'; Major Lazer is a music project created by the American DJ and record producer Diplo whereas DJ Snake is a French DJ; featuring a Danish recording artist MØ (Karen Marie Ørsted, 1988; signed to Sony Music Entertainment). I randomly came across this track on Youtube and fell in love with it; which I then soon found out it entered the official charts recently (quite annoying as I thought I discovered something new and non commercial). This track is a combo of electropop, trap, EDM and Moombahton- basically it includes a thick and spread-out bass line, dramatic builds; and a two-step pulse, with quick drum fills. The music video was shot in India and Sweden (I don’t know which bits are Sweden but I think they may as well stuck to the Indian location).
Galantis – Runaway (U & I)
Runaway ( U & I) is a tracked produced by the Swedish electronic duo Galantis consisting of Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson of Miike Snow, and Linus Eklöw aka Style of Eye. This track was released earlier this year which peaked in number 4 on the official UK charts. In this music video; the actual track doesn’t start until 1 min 12 seconds so the first minute is all intro; a slower beat before kicking into some deep house and progressive house.
Tove Lo – Habits (Stay High – Hippie Sabotage Remix
There seems to be a trend here with the Swedish music and Habits is a song by a Swedish recording artist Tove Lo. This song came out back in March 2013 and re-released in Dec 2013 as the Hippie Sabotage remix which shot the charts by storm and found more success worldwide. Lyrically it’s about getting over her ex by getting high on recreational drugs but this tune is something I’ve had on replay on my iPhone; incredibly catchy and has a lyrical and musical hooks to it.
