Well happy International Sushi Day guys!! Originally; I was going to get myself some sushi to take away but I thought…why don’t I try to make sushi myself?! Went to my nearest Atari-Ya in Finchley to bag myself all the ingredients I need which included: sushi rice, rice vinegar, sheets of seaweed, avocado and fresh salmon! I bought a slice of salmon (for sushi; don’t just buy any salmon) that will feed 4 people for £13 which is pretty cheap. By the time I got home it was 3pm and I haven’t had breakfast or lunch so I am really really hungry already :s
Thankfully I have a rice cooker to cook my rice for me (all Chinese households will have a rice cooker) so in the meantime I couldn’t help myself and slice some of that salmon as sashimi with soy sauce to curb my hunger.
Few sticky fingers later I am proud to have made 3 rolls of salmon and avocado maki rolls with tobiko topping eeeeeeee I am so proud of myself. It is very very easy to make and with the right (simple) ingredients; you make yourself some delicious sushi. If you are feeding for 2, all you need is 200g of sushi rice; £6 worth of sushi salmon, half an avocado, 3 sheets of seaweed and a roller. By the way if you don’t have a roller you can use cling film and your hands to roll it.
Well, Happy International Sushi Day and hope you enjoyed a pretty rainy Saturday :s
