I attended Wazen’s official launch on Wednesday 7th October with guests varying from journalists and bloggers alike. I was very excited to sample their menu which offers authentic Japanese delicacies from Wagyu beef steak, nigiris, sashimi and fusion nibbles. They are located just off Euston Road on Acton Street where you will find their restaurant in the corner that’s inviting and welcoming.
“Wazen is a neighbourhood Japanese restaurant, specialising in authentic, high quality cuisine served in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Named after the traditional “Japanese table”, Wazen will offer guests the chance to experience the rich customs of Omotenashi, roughly translated as “the spirit of Japanese hospitality”.
Dishing up beautiful plates you won’t find anywhere else in London, Wazen brings together high quality ingredients, traditional cooking methods and sophisticated service – we look forward to hosting you soon.”
Champagne and Sake were free flowing all evening before we tucked into a warm bowl of edemame means. It was an intimate group at the launch but we all had one agenda in mind and I was worried we were going to turn into vultures when their platter comes out. As expected, we all dived in but we had every reason to. The first platter was cubes of sealed wagyu steak chunks which was absolutely delicious I managed to snuck in another piece. I’ve had wagyu steak before but I have to say that this was top notch wagyu beef: it was fatty, juicy and just melts in the mouth.
What else did I manage to sample? Oh yes, a platter of scallop ceviche with truffles, bitesize assorted nigiris, chicken Kakinotane bites on a bed of salad and much more.
It was a fantastic launch and had a fab time meeting some old faces in the blogger network as well as new ones. What I sampled at the launch was top notch quality fresh fish that’s authentic with an inventive flair from each dish. Wazen officially launches tomorrow
