Last week I paid a visit to the Sheraton Park Lane hotel for afternoon tea with a new friend of mine and what a treat to dine at the Tudor Rose room. Thanks to Red Letter Days, I enjoyed a complimentary afternoon tea for 2 plus complimentary champagne upon arrival. There was a harpist playing in the background which was beautiful and nothing more adorable than a harpist playing a Happy Birthday song for one of the guest’s Birthday awwww.
I was recommended the Vanilla Black Tea whilst my friend had a flowering tea in a pot – beautiful.
Thankfully we saved our appetite for this moment as we were tucking into a very special plate of delicacy – each piece representing parts of the world. For this savoury dish we had:
Inspired by Paris – Pumpkin and hazelnut savoury “macaron de Paris” with chicken crackling
Inspired by the Far East – Lemongrass and coriander Thai crab short pastry tartlet
Inspired by the Baltics – Dill cured smoked salmon on beetroot bread with sour cream
Inspired by France – Egg crème fraiche with micro amaranth on a brioche mini roll
It was a unique tasting experience from your typical finger sandwiches so it was refreshing to sample something unique from around the world. I mean, who’s had a chicken crackling macaron? Well at least I have now and my favourite was the Baltics inspired piece which was a delight.
We were spoiled by two types of scones – orange blossom & bee pollen fruit scone and Raspberry & cocoa nib scone. Accompanying spreads were traditional clotted cream and rose petal and/or raspberry preserves. Can’t have afternoon tea with no scones 
We then merrily moved on to the sweet which was also inspired by parts of the world:
Inspired by the Middle East: Pistachio financier with Persian rose nectar
Inspired by India: Mango and mint salsa, saffron crème patissiere, cardamom biscuits and precious mango pearls
Inspired by South America: Alto El Sol Peruvian dark chocolate mousse with passion fruit cream
Inspired by Switzerland: Kirsch crème mousseline tartlet topped with raspberries and blackcurrant coulis
Bless my friend who thought you had to squeeze the pippet over the tartlet when she was supposed to squeeze it inside. I have the sweetest tooth and how spoilt was I to sample yet more desserts inspired from one end to another parts of the world. It was an Instagram worthy display of treats and we seem to be enjoying this way too much.

you are given about an hour and a half but we were there for almost 3 hours, oopsy. What a great way to spend my weekend and hopefully more to come.
