Chotto Matte is a Nikkei Cuisine, a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant located on Frith Street in Soho of London. Chotto Matte is one of my favourite restaurants in London and have been here 4 times to date. The atmosphere is bustling, vey energetic which helps compliment the offering of Nikkei Cuisine. Chotto Matte is all about the quality, sourcing the best and freshest ingredients locally. Without any hesitation; I ploughed through the menu and ordered dishes I have not tried before. So what did I order:
Chilli tiger prawns to start with, followed by Seabass Ceviche (fresh Seabass, sweet potato, Peruvian corn, coriander, chive oil, citrus sauce).
We can’t turn up to a Japanese restaurant without ordering sushi, so we ordered an 8 piece Nikkei Sushi which were all individually dressed (tuna, seabass, salmon, yellowtail, snow crab, scallop, turbot, nasu).
For our main course; we had the Pork belly with nashi pear and yellow tomato salsa; followed by black Cod with yellow chilli miso and a bowl of jasmine rice to compliment the fish.
It was one of the most enjoyable meals I have had and unfortunately; I just didn’t have room for dessert next time I am going to make sure I can squeeze in some of their delicious desserts. The bill came down to £110 (without alcohol) which isn’t bad considering the amount of food we ordered. I had a fab time and I hope my friend enjoyed the overall experience too as it was my recommendation afterall. I cannot wait to come back and sample more of their food in their menu. If you love your Oriental cuisine with a South American fusion, you are going to love it here. Just in case you wondered what Chotto Matte means, it’s “wait a minute”
Hope you can follow me on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter. May xx
