It’s London Health Week guys!! Time to swap out those greasy chips and fizzy drinks for a bit of granola bars and cold pressed juices. To kickstart the week; Ellie from The Young Domestic Goddess invited me along to a casual blogger brunch at Raw Press in Dover Street, London. We had the pleasure to sample Pearl & Groove’s tasty gluten free cakes, made with ground almonds, free range eggs and all the natural ingredients to make to wonderful bakes! For all you gluten free eaters; you need to get your ass down to Pearl & Groove on Chiswick High Road.

We had the amazing Raw Press guys talk through the selection of juices available and he made it really difficult to choose which one I should have! They all look so darn good I wanted to try each and every one of them but I decided to go for the Coffee and mylk (yeah that’s not a typo). Over the past couple of years, cold-pressed juicing has exploded in popularity in the US and it is now here on Dover Street, exploding in popularity in the UK scene.
Cold-pressing is a juicing method that works without the use of a rotary blade machine, which is currently the most prevalent commercial method used. The key difference between hydraulic pressed juice extraction and centrifugal juice extraction is in the lack of fast moving parts. The hot blades then contact the produce and can destroy sensitive enzymes, lowering the nutritional value of the juice and affecting the taste.
Hydraulic juice presses conversely work by slowly applying pressure until all of the juice is drained from the fruit and vegetables. We use the industry-leading juice presses, which first shred down the solid produce to a pulp, before pressing the pulp in the hydraulic press. The process is slow, natural and it is a method that results in minimal oxidisation, zero heat and the highest integrity.
Basically, the juice stays better for longer, is tastier and also retains the highest amount of nutrients.

It was a wonderful start to a Sunday morning, I met some great people and bloggers alike who love to take food pics without appearing too socially awkward with our cameras and tweeting/Instagramming at the table. I am sure I will see them all very soon; again thanks Ellie for bringing me along. Ellie, is a food and fitness blogger over at The Young Domestic Goddess.
