I enjoyed a lovely midnight meal at Duck and Waffle at the Heron Tower; this is the second time that I’ve dined here and both times past midnight. What is it about Duck and Waffle we love so much? For some, it’s a place for people to mark a special occasion; and for others; a lifestyle to enjoy an evening of fine dining with delicious cocktails at the sky high bar. Duck and Waffle is a British European cuisine that serves 24/7 on the 40th floor, the highest restaurant in the UK. Our table was booked for 1am and we ordered:
Roasted Octopus £13: with chorizo, baby potatoes and pickled cucumber.
The portion size was small; I considered it as a starter/tapas as opposed to a main, but it was really delicious and worth trying.
Duck Egg en Cocotte £13: vegetarian option with wild mushrooms, gruyere, truffle and soldiers (basically bread slices to dip into the dish). However, my friend didn’t want the bread slices and the waiter recommended well the replace the bread slices for waffles. That gives me the thumbs up for service!
Dark Chocolate Brownie Sundae with Peanut Crunch £10: we shared this delectable sundae; it wasn’t anything special but we needed a chocolate fix so I wouldn’t order this again.
Service: standard was very good; however inconsistent during busy times. When you have their attention; they are fantastic and make wonderful recommendations; but when they are really busy their attention to detail slip which is unfortunate. However; they managed to redeem themselves.
