This week I received the Maybeauty peelable facemask and when I read up on it I was excited to try it. I’ve always been using Biore nose strips to get the nasty dirt and blackheads out my nose and pore areas but now there is a whole face mask that not only does the same; but for your whole face too! You know, the annoying oily t zone, oily chin, dry patches around the cheeks, eurgh I can go on forever! Honestly, my skin isn’t thaaat bad and I’m not exaggerating either; these are my problem areas up close.
So how does it work? The kit comes with a set of 5 masks (for £19), brush and manual with easy to follow steps with images (images always help because I do feel a bit dyslexic with manual reading). It’s very easy to apply, just dip the brush in the packet generously and carefully apply around your face away from the eyes (trust me, your skin area around the eyes are very sensitive) and areas with hairy places (in which case our lady moustache area!). Top tip, tie your hair up and wear an alice band or something; trust me you wouldn’t want your hair caught in the sticky like mask…it’s like stuck in the mud. Thankfully my sister tried it first and didn’t read the manual properly so I’ve already learnt from her mistakes the fast way. She applied a thin layer of the mask which meant it wasn’t as easy to peel off due to the thin layer. So, I applied a thicker amount across my face which meant it will dry for about 25 minutes before peeling. The mask is very cooling once applied and I was worries I was going to have my family freak out when they see my face but oh well!
Once my 25 minutes was up, it was time to peel away to reveal the results! Be warned, it will hurt abit; it’s not like glue when it dries on your skin and it feels addictively good, it’s the similar feeling as the Biore nose strips but for the face! I didn’t apply the mask along my temple; my head shape is quite small and a bit hairy so I only applied the mask on targeted areas.
Why does it hurt? It doesn’t hurt as much but because of our hairy face and depending how sensitive your skin is, it does feel like your hairs are getting plucked a bit; also if you do have sensitive skin with wounded spots, I don’t recommend using it until your wounds have heeled.
So i managed to peel off the mask gently and the results were exactly what I wanted, all the nasty grub and black heads removed which is visible on what has now become a black sheet. My face looks renewed, smoother, oil removed, dead skin removed, cleaner complexion with tightened pores.
Honestly, peelable face masks are amazing and I recommend using it once a week. The peelable mud masks are available with 30% discount with my link MayBeauty Face Mask.
