Firstly, all these pics are very grainy; that’s because they were all taken from an Android phone back in 2013. I went on a family holiday to my future brother-in-law’s home town, home country in North Cyprus. I was really excited to go to a beachy, sunny holiday and is our first family trip (without the mums and dads). When I arrived, it was very unusual that when the plane landed, everyone clapped. Apparently; Turkish/Cypriot people are very superstitious and celebrates a safe landing by cheering and clapping!
This was one of my favourite holidays to date and thanks to my bro-in-law, he organised everything for us in terms of all the beaches to visit, a beautiful home to stay in and eat the best local food North Cyprus has to offer. North and South Cyprus are very different in culture as well as language with North Cyprus being Turkish and South Cyprus being Greek.
Did you know that Disney found his inspiration for his castle here? I totally had no idea and was totally shocked! I looked at the mountain castle and realised…oh yea, it does look like it. We did take a tour around the castle which overlooked the best views of the mediterranean sea. There were a few wobbly walks but it was an achievement to reach to the top, take lots of selfies and soak in the moment.
We ended our last leg of our holiday at the golden beach where we stayed in a hut a stone throw away. Unfortunately, we had a naughty mouse chew through our biscuits and my favourite top
nevertheless we had hornet wasps and mosquitos to fight against day to day! My second sister was hilarious; she ordered a mosquito bed net and her husband wasn’t too happy that she ordered a single size…rather than a net for 2. I clearly have selfish sisters haha. I had an amazing golden tan which I have built up over 1 week and spent our final night gazing at the stars above! We are at the tip of North Cyprus and it was amazing to see clear stars above us. The final picture here is a gorgeous one and we were figuring out whether that spec is Mars! Who knows!! I love going to places that’s not your typical destination, but it does help when you know someone who can recommend all the places to go and eat. Hope you have enjoyed this light read of the day; Summer is almost here in London and cannot wait to go on another sunny holiday. May x
