At 16 I had my first set of train tracks, but little did everyone know I had to wear…a head gear!!!! Oh my god it was the most embarrassing, childhood shaming thing one could ever experience! My sisters had their tooth knocked out and I got stuck with the head gear?! Anyway, after a year of getting teased by my family, I had my first set of train tracks before wearing the retainers for life (you do know that your teeth will still move and get out of their position!?). FYI, those retainers are dead expensive…it’s not a cheap plastic mould!
Anyway, many years later of snacking on sweets, chocolates, crisps, desserts, candy…I recently had to undergo a root canal, add a crown, a white filling and 1 more white filling to go! It’s an expensive piece of work but it’s all my fault for all the damages I’ve made. I have been making a bit of effort to invest in dental care, meaning flossing, whitening tooth paste, mouthwash, tongue cleaner and an electric tooth brush! Sounds like more work than putting makeup on. It’s really scary that once you lose a tooth (thank god I’m not at that stage yet) it’s difficult to mask that. I had a very weak tooth but they still saved it because I am too young to lose a tooth (I love my dentist, she’s from Hong Kong too so she has all my best interest at heart). I wonder if I had any discount perks for being Hong Kong Chinese like her?! Conclusion: if there is a sign of pain, get it fixed before it gets worse! I waited out a year for it to get worse and made more damage than it should! I’ve also invested in Listerine’s new mouthwash…although they also had a whitening mouthwash too so I bought both. Anti plaque mouthwash for the evening and the whitening for the morning!
