There are many boutique fitness studios in London and what better way to stand out from the crowd by calling yourselves Train Dirty London – it sounded fierce, cuts the bullshit and lures you in for a bit of curiosity. I follow a number of ClassPass members on Instagram and my way of finding out what new classes/studios they’ve been going to that I need to try out and that’s how I came across the Skinny Rebel Workout at Train Dirty London. They provide a tailored health and fitness service to luxury and boutique hotels across the UK (Europe and Australia).
So what is Skinny Rebel?
It’s Train Dirty’s signature high intensity, full body workout with the option of wearing an altitude mask for some or all of the session. This is a personal training workout with a difference in London.
How does it differ from an ordinary training session?
By wearing an altitude mask, the skinny rebel workout exposes the body to reduced oxygen levels. With less oxygen available in the air and less oxygen therefore circulating in your blood, the body makes captive changes as to how it uses oxygen as well as its available energy stores. The main benefits are an increase in lung capacity, energy production, anaerobic threshold, mental focus as well as re-training the way you breathe during high intensity workouts. Overall clients will receive a vigorous intense workout in a controlled indoor environment.

These sessions last for 45 minutes and due to the nature and to maintain a personal service, capacity for each session is up to 4 maximum – I was lucky to have a PT session as the other girl didn’t turn up (it was a Friday evening, she probably chose booze instead!) The session was tough but I battled my way through every round with a combo of burpees, mountain climbers, planks, lunges…everything you can think of to get my heart rate up and by the 5th round, I decided to put the altitude mask on and this was where it got tough – by wearing an altitude mask, the skinny rebel workout exposes the body to reduced oxygen levels.
