Chel-Ski is the largest indoor skiing centre in London which recently opened in December 2015. It has been a long wait to have a ski centre in London as the only two locations we have here are Milton Keynes and Hemel Hampstead so I was ecstatic to see one open up in London.
I discovered Chel-Ski recently when it popped up on ClassPass so I arranged a visit with them to check it out! I have been super jealous of my friends who are currently on their ski trips or just been and I sit here deliberating how on earth did I not make a ski trip happen this year!

Chel-Ski is located in Chelsea (hence the name) and a short 15 minute walk from Fulham Broadway underground station (or you can get off at Imperial Wharf Overground). There are only 2 ski slopes like treadmills and requires an instructor for each hour long session. You can choose to board or ski but since I’ve not Skied before I took this opportunity to learn. Ed Cavendish was my instructor for the lesson and thankfully no one else booked in so I technically had a private session. All the skis and boots are provided so make sure you where comfy trousers and long sleeves. The ‘turf’ is made of a certain fibre that almost replicates the snow texture and gets dampened frequently to get that wet snow feel beneath your skis – be warned that your bum may get a bit damp from falling over but it will dry off.
Thankfully, having boarded before and done plenty of lower body exercises I managed to pick up skiing quite quickly (and also for the fact that Ed was a great teacher) and restored a lot of my confidence on the artificial slope. I treated the hour like it was a fitness class but you can take breaks if you are tired so I was a bit too keen to not take a break.

The centre is catered for all ages (below the age of four requires a private lesson) where parents take their kids to learn before hitting the slopes. People think that it’s just for kids but it’s also a great training ground for adults to practice and people like me who’s never skied before. It is also expensive to get lessons out on the alps and the fact that all your friends are pros – leaving you behind on the baby slopes can be annoying. The classes are much more affordable here at the comfort of your own city so I definitely recommend to give it a go. You can read more about Chel-Ski here, otherwise; get booking on ClassPass.

If you are not a member of ClassPass yet; sign up with my link to get £25 off your first month of membership :) here.
