I discovered this little gem called Honey and Co that offers great food from the Middle East in Warren Street. It was an impromptu visit at this little restaurant where dinosaur eggs were available to order on the breakfast menu! Off course I was intrigued as I nosed around and saw a a dinosaur egg on someone else’s plate so I ordered the creamy hummus served with tahini, dinosaur egg and homemade pitta with a side of milk buns to share.
My thoughts? For breakfast there was a lot of hummus for one person so in hindsight we should have shared this and ordered something else to mix it up. As much as I love hummus, there’s only so much you can have for breakfast and as for the dinosaur egg? It’s just cosmetic; maybe great for photos but after all it doesn’t taste any different from your usual hard boiled egg. As for the milk bun I was also disappointed as I thought they were going to be soft and fluffy like those Japanese style milk buns. Off course it’s the Middle Eastern version and tastes like any loaf of bread so it didn’t really hit me anywhere. Don’t get me wrong; I love Lebanese food and is one of my favourite cuisines but the fancy names for a loaf and an egg are masking what they really are and so it heightened my expectations. However, it’s a sweet little place to sit in and have a nice cup of coffee and I have yet to try the rest of the menu. I work just around the corner so I am always curious to try new and local restaurants and coffee shops for brekkie and lunch. For more information about Honey and Co, you can find this here. Earlier this year, they opened Honey and Spice which is a food store of Honey and Co where you can shop your groceries as well us buy their yummy homemade cookies, sweet treats and ice creams. Fortunately, for us hungry Londoners working around Fitzrovia they serve fresh yummy lunches – some debate on their portion sizes for the price we pay for it so it’s a treat now and again for us.
