Listed in the world’s 50 best bars in their 7th consecutive year; only 5 bars have achieved this! Shaken or stirred, there’s a drink for everybody; whether it’s an old classic gin martini or a tailor made cocktail called the Iceland Smash by Mathias! Definitely try their unique concept of gin martini where the bartenders can not touch the glass but the owner of the drink. There is also a Dry Counter Certified for every classic gin martini served and you get a stamped certificate to go with it, pretty sweet huh.
“Alongside martinis, the bar will serve a selection of both classic and signature cocktails, aiming to blend tradition and innovation as successfully as its Spanish sibling. Its decor will match, with brightly coloured furniture, a shiny copper bar and a diverse selection of all-Spanish artwork set to lend a contemporary look to an otherwise classic space.” – ES
My absolute favourite was the Iceland Smash; fresh and fruity with a kick of bulldog gin – the gin is smooth and balanced with a citrus base. It has multiple layers of of flavours that allows versatility for maximum mixability. “It’s triple distilled neutral grain spirit made with only the finest British wheat and water. But it’s the fourth distillation where the transformation happens, when they add their unique blend of botanicals in their natural format, to the pot still. They produce their gin at 40% ABV wherever in the world you find it. It achieves the perfect balance to allow the botanicals to express themselves.”
Education over; I am shocked that I was not aware of this bar as the hotel is right next to my work place.
