Firebrand Pizza Review in Marylebone

Firebrand Pizza is tucked away on Lisson Grove in Marylebone where you would find yourself a chilled restaurant serving wood fired sourdough pizzas as well as fresh salads, nibbles and sweet desserts. Known for their pizzas, their sourdough is made from Caputo flour from Naples and left to prove for 48 hours. Thanks to an invitation from PR, I popped down to check it out (I didn’t realise it’s just around the corner from Indaba Yoga studio). I love the multi tones of black and white tiles on the floor with rustic wooden boards across the room and there you will find the wood fire oven by their large pane window. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon and needless to say; a slight hungover self needed some carbs to pick me up.

Starters: Juicy and warm prawns with butter, Lemon, herbs and chilli – can’t go wrong with a messy starter and the sauce complimented the prawns well and not too over powering.

Main: Quinoa salad with buckwheat, butternut squash, onion, pomegranate and walnuts. A healthier option if you do not wish to order a pizza. Salads can be boring but this was flavoursome that was bursting with full of flavours – I surprisingly enjoyed this a lot, it’s got a good crunch!

Pizza: we ordered the most popular pizza on the menu which is the spicy salami with roasted peppers, rocket, mozzarella and tomato. I agree with their recommendation and I had to fight for the last piece of pizza! Portion size is big enough for one but even better to share. I watched the chef make the pizza and there was a whole lotta love in that woodfire oven for about 3mins.

Desserts: I am quite a big sucker for Panna Cotta and it’s actually not often you see it on a menu; and when I do it brings a big smile on my face. I ordered the blueberry panna cotta for myself and Tiramisu for Olivia. You can easily tell that these were freshly made when you take that first bite and admittedly – corrr I did like that Tiramisu!! I enjoyed the Panna Cotta but I did think the portion was a bit too big and wasn’t able to finish it (not that I didn’t like it).

It’s always great to find a new restaurant popping up around the area of marylebone and I am glad that Firebrand Pizza is making a permanent residence. I work just around the corner and we always struggle to come up with something new to try that’s casual for lunch as well as dinner. Very warm, friendly and welcoming ambience so do check it out if you love a good ol’ woodfire sourdough pizza! You can find their site here. The meal was complimentary and invited down by PR but all opinions are my own.
